Neurofeedback is a kind of biofeedback which teaches self-control of brain functions to subjects by measuring brain waves and providing a feedback signal
A non-invasive, complementary and alternative treatment of many brain dysfunctions. It is a method that helps subjects to control their brain waves consciously.
Using electrodes placed in the scalp, the brain waves are measured and monitored. Brain waves are electrical activity of the brain that is recorded through the EEG or Encephalography. Through this, the areas of concerned are identified and a training plan can be created and the proper treatment protocol can be used.
The various treatment protocols used are the following:
- 1. Alpha Protocol
- 2. Beta Protocol
- 3. Alpha/Theta Protocol
- 4. Delta Protocol
- 5. Gamma Protocol
- 6. Theta Protocol
A Neurofeedback session includes the subject seated in front of a computer or monitor while electrodes are attached to his scalp. It is like playing a video game, listening to a music or watching a movie. Then a comparison is made between what the brain is actually doing to what the subject would really want it to be doing. When the brain is nearing a more comfortable state, the subject is rewarded with a positive response on the computer screen. The sound and images tell you immediately when the brain approaches a more efficient place and when not. The same as doing physical exercises to develop specific muscles, the brain is exercised to reach a more comfortable and efficient position where it will get better. As with learning a new skill, it simply requires time and repetition.
The following are the clinical applications of Neurofeedback training in the treatment of diseases or disorders:
- • ADHD – Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder
- • Schizophrenia
- • Insomnia
- • Learning disabilities, Dyslexia and Dyscalculia
- • Drug Addiction
- • Enhancing the performance of athletes, artists and surgeons
- • Autism Spectrum Disorder
- • Epilepsy
- • Depression
- • Anxiety
- • Pain Management
The Neuron-Spectrum-1/BFB, provides extensive customization of training profiles for each patient individually using a wide range of biological feedbacks. The system combines the signal-acquisition advances provided with EEG recorder and expert training capabilities. The Neuron-Spectrum.NET software allows you to assess the training success and generate automatically the report.
